Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Kathryn June (nee Wilson) Calhoun Jordan of Art, Texas on February 12, 2022, at the age of 70.  Kathryn was born in Cheyenne Wyoming on July 15, 1951, to Samuel Jackson and Deloris Mae (Schaad) Wilson.  Kathryn was the only daughter born into a family of four children.

She is remembered by her sons Joe Calhoun and wife Misti of Thorndale, Tx., Josh Calhoun and wife Lorien of Whiteface, Tx., grandchildren Jackson, Caleigh and Lincoln Calhoun; brothers Sam Wilson, Robert Wilson and wife Claribel, Bryan Wilson and wife Holly and numerous Wilson nieces, nephews and cousins.  Kathy is also survived by her life-long best friend and cousin, Ann Waters. Kathy is preceded in death by her father; mother; husband and father of her sons, Willie James Calhoun; and husband, E. Wayne Jordan.

Born into a military family, Kathryn's childhood was filled with travel as she grew up on Air Force bases —Wyoming, Maine, Illinois, Texas---and abroad in Italy.  She graduated from Crockett High School in 1969. Shortly after her graduation and upon his return from Vietnam, Kathryn married Willie James Calhoun on August 27, 1971.  Over their 21 years of marriage, the young couple raised two sons in Bastrop County until Willie's death in 1993. Kathy was fortunate to experience love twice in her lifetime and married E. Wayne Jordan of Art, Texas.  They enjoyed 26 years of marriage and lived in Art, Texas until his passing in 2020.

Within minutes of meeting Kathy, you immediately knew that she enjoyed making people happy and genuinely loved caring for others---be it animals or humans. Kathy pursued her dream of becoming a geriatric nurse practitioner and fulfilled her life-long goal of graduating from the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Nursing.

Kathryn will be remembered for her big heart, beautiful blue eyes, love of life and a smile that brightened everyone's day.

A celebration of Kathryn's life will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Art United Methodist Church in Art, Texas.

In remembrance of Kathryn, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, individuals may donate to the Art United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 7399 State Hwy 29E, Art, TX 76820, or to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, 4801 La Crosse Ave., Austin, TX 78739.
