Obituary

Kathleen Wilma Draper was born June 6, 1922 to James Miller and Maude Ashby Draper in Pontotoc, Texas. She graduated as valedictorian at the Hutchinson Academy in Pontotoc. She married Warren Kothmann in 1943 and after the war she was involved with Warren's variety store business and raised four children in Seguin.

Kathleen is survived by her children Charles and wife, Dorthy Kothmann, Dwight Kothmann, Cecelia Ann and husband Dr Daryl Currier, and Alan and wife Donna Kothmann, stepson Brian Smith, stepdaughter Linda Taylor and husband, seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

After retirement, they ranched in the Castell area, until a tornado destroyed their home and resulted in Warren's death in 1999. Kathleen was injured but managed to rebuild her life and settled down in Mason. In 2000, Kathleen was lucky enough to find love again and married Dorman Smith of Mason, who also preceded her in death.

Kathleen was proud of her early American heritage, her membership in the Daughters of the Confederacy. She was brought up in the Church of Christ faith but became a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She loved reading and baking and even at her advanced age she kept up with current events was always sharp and witty. She was the official historian of the family and had many friends and was loved by all and will be dearly missed.

Kathleen is preceded in death by her husbands, parents and siblings, Melvin Draper, Orville Draper, (Irene) Pauline McGarraugh (Jack), and Jimmy Draper, her sisters-in-law Elma Ratliff (Clarence) and Lillian DeBusk (Clarence). Also, daughter in-law Kandie Kothmann and step daughter-in-law Merced Smith
