Julian David Ortiz, of Mason, passed away on Friday, March 11, at the age 57. He was preceded I death by his parents Jose Ortiz and Celia Velez Ortiz and also by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Mr. Ortiz is survived by three sisters, Jane Ortiz Vargas of Mason, JoAnn Ortiz Rodel and husband Bob of Marble Falls, Becky Ortiz Martinez and husband Danny of Mason, a brother Joe Steve Ortiz and wife Erlinda of San Antonio. He is also survived by three uncles Louis Velez Jr., Roman Velez Sr. and Paul Velez along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

David worked most of his life sheep shearing and in construction. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends while listening to music.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home with a Rosary at 6 at the funeral home. The funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Melvin Dornak on Monday, March 14, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Serving as pallbearers are Danny A. Martinez, Abel Martinez, Salvador Castillo, Jamil Jefferson, Alfonzo Vasquez and Felix Cedillo
