Jordan Zesch

November 26, 1926 – February 23, 2021

Jordan Zesch went to his eternal home with his Lord on February 23, 2021, surrounded by his family at home in Mason.   Jordan is survived by his loving bride of nearly 73 years, Blan Loeffler Zesch; their son William Harold "Hal" Zesch and his wife Amy Daviss Zesch; grandchildren Kellie Zesch Weir and her husband James Weir, Jessica Zesch and her husband Glen Lam, Jordan David Zesch, and Hannah Kristine Zesch; and great grandchildren Thomas Harold Weir, Helen Ora Otis Weir, and "Baby Girl" Zesch-Lam (arriving July 18, 2021).   Jordan was preceded in death by his and Blan's precious daughter Kristina Blan Zesch Parker and her husband Jerry Parker, their son Jeremy, and their not-yet-born 2 ^nd child. Jordan was also preceded in death by his parents, William Harold "Butch" Zesch and his wife, Helen Jordan Zesch (who were married 74 years and whose anniversary was February 23 ^rd ).

Jordan was born in Mason and primarily spoke German as a small child, which he continued to love to speak his whole life. Jordan attended 15 different schools while he and his family moved during the Great Depression. Jordan graduated from high school and joined the United States Navy Officer Candidate School the day he turned 16. The high school added some courses, and the U.S. Government added a full year to his age to give him the minimum enlistment age of 17. He attended Millsaps College and Tulane University, double majoring in math and physics, graduating from college the week after he turned 19. The U.S. Government repeatedly tried to get him to move to Chicago and Los Alamos to work on the atomic bomb, but he told them he was "going home to the country in Mason," where he lived for the rest of his life. Blan says "I have always known Jordan, but at first I didn't think I would go with the guy everyone called 'the math genius' because I hated math." Blan and Jordan married on June 19, 1948 and were always one of the closest and most loving couples everyone said they knew.

Jordan was a Renaissance man. He taught himself finance and accounting; became one of the early U.S. stock option traders, having his own New York Stock Exchange floor broker while operating from Mason; was an artist (like his mother); had a Ford automobile dealership with his father; financed automobiles; bought, sold and financed ranches; taught himself to become a licensed gemologist and bought and sold diamonds and other jewelry directly from the diamond cutters in New York and Israel (Jordan and the diamond dealers had lively conversations with him speaking German and them speaking Yiddish); owned and operated an insurance agency; and loved to travel with Blan as part of his having a travel agency. Jordan was active in the First United Methodist Church of Mason and served on both profit and nonprofit Boards of Directors.

The family would like to give our heart-felt gratitude to the loving caregivers who made it possible for Jordan to be loved and cared for at home, particularly "Angel Janie" Jaquez. Jordan will be buried at a private graveside service, with the Reverend Jean Reardon officiating, at a future date that has not yet been decided.
