Johnny Menchaca, 70, from Mason, Texas was relieved of his earthly burdens and joys on Friday, October 15, 2021. He was born on the 4th of July 1951 to parents Alfred and Mary Menchaca in Morton, Texas and was raised in Mason.

He was a hard-working man who took his job, whatever it may be, seriously and with confidence. His trademark was to do a job well and commit 100% to it. He loved ranch work and being out in the country feeding livestock, mending fence, clearing brush and taking care of the place. He was a sheep shearer for years and he was good at it. He provided for his family by whichever means he could.

He served his country in National Guard in the early 70's with the unit from Brady, Texas. During the years he served, he was a cook/baker for his unit. This military occupational specialty served him well afterwards because he developed a love for baking cakes and cookies. He supplied many of his kin with his baked goods.

Johnny enjoyed fishing regardless of whether he caught anything or not. He was an avid hunter and loved being in the outdoors.

He loved old fashioned gatherings and BBQ outings with family and friends.

He was a loving husband and father; tough but fair.

Recently Johnny was an aficionado of garage sales and estate sales. You would see him and his wife (Irene) in the wee hours on a Saturday morning heading out of town to catch a garage sale. They would catch a garage sale or two and eat out, enjoying each other's company.

Johnny was a unique individual who will be missed immensely. His persona will forever be imbedded in those who loved him and cared for him.

Johnny is survived by his wife Irene Menchaca of Mason, children Savino Menchaca and wife Elizabeth, of Silsbee, Bobbie Menchaca and Jerry Spratlen of Llano, J.J. Menchaca and wife Stephanie of Burnet, Alex Morquecho and wife Miranda of Bishop, Joe albert Segura of Big Spring, and Denise Morquecho of  Mason, brothers and sisters Julian Menchaca and wife Beatrice, of San Antonio, Jimmy Menchaca and wife Lucy of Mason, Susie LaFuentes of Lampasas, Alfred Menchaca Jr. and wife Melva of Mason, Mary Castillo and husband Manuel of Mason and Sara Berreles and husband Hector of Bandera. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren: Bodie Menchaca, Meghan Menchaca, Brandon Menchaca, Ethan Torrez, Emma Simons, Morgan Menchaca, Dusty Berryhill, Blake Berryhill, Jayda berryhill, Jacob Ynfante, Nicholas Ynfante, Skyler Menchaca, Jersey Menchaca, Raylin Menchaca, Gavin Varns, Mila Morquecho and Macy Morquecho and 3 great-grandchildren: Hallie Berryhill, Rayleigh Berryhill and Rainey Berryhill.
