Johnita Bohmfalk

Johnita Pearl Schuessler was born on March 4, 1916 in Austin. Her parents were Ida and John Schuessler. Johnita attended Castell school and graduated from Mason High School in 1933. She was a proud Mason Puncher. Johnita also attended Blinn College, Southwestern University, and graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1938, with a Bachelor of Arts in German. In 1937 she married the love of her life, Milton Bohmfalk. Milton was a Methodist pastor and she was a wonderful minister's wife and perfect hostess. Johnita and Milton enjoyed the blessing of marriage for sixty one years. Together, they served churches in Dallas, Mertzon, Junction, Crystal City, Mission, Austin, Beeville, Uvalde, Del Rio, El Campo, Corpus Christi, Yorktown, Castell, Hilda, Art, and Fredonia. Johnita was mother to two children, Joan and Robert. Johnita was involved with many groups, including the United Methodist Women, AAUW Eastern Star, and the Daughters of the Texas Republic. In 1978. Johnita was named Texas Mother of the Year – which she shared with Ann Campbell, (Earl Campbell's mother). Johnita wrote a book, "John Adam and Eva Schuessler: Pioneers in Texas".

Johnita is survived by her daughter Joan, and husband Jim Ullrich of Conroe, son Robert of Seguin, and four grandchildren, John Ullrich and wife Roni Sue of Denton, Jeff Ullrich and wife Sara of Conroe, Joe Ullrich of Lubbock, and Jay Speer and husband James of Austin. Johnita has six great-grandchildren, Sam, Joann, JR, Ella and Emory. Also surviving are sister-in-law Marjorie Bohmfalk Hardy and 15 nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were John Ullrich, Jeff Ullrich, Joe Ullrich, Ginger Schuessler, John W. Schuessler and Wade Schuessler.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 5, at the First United Methodist Church in Mason. Four Methodist pastors participated in the service, Cliff Krcha, Wade Powell, Beth Schuessler and Monte Marshall. Interment was in the Castell Methodist Cemetery.
