John Carlton Meyer was born in Fredericksburg, Texas, on January 22, 1945, to Wilbert and Bertha Dittmar Meyer and passed from this life on November 1, 2023, in Northeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.

John attended the Mason schools graduating from Mason High School in 1963.He received his Bachelor and Master degrees in industrial arts from SWTSC (now Texas State College) and taught shop in Northeast ISD in San Antonio at Nimitz then Wood Middle Schools. He also dabbled in antiques and created fine woodwork items which he gifted to friends and relatives. John enjoyed singing and at one time was a member of the Beethoven Männerchor in San Antonio.

His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by a brother, Fred Meyer (Pam) of Blackwell, Oklahoma, sisters Helen Habecker and Carolyn Loeffler, both of Mason, and a special friend, Jerry Robinson of Garden Ridge, Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

A committal service at the gravesite was held on November 4, 2023, with a memorial service at a later date pending.
