John Alan Mayfield was born in Galveston, TX on July 29, 1946, he passed away on August 4, 2020. He was the son of Isaac and Margaret Mayfield of Giddings, TX and brother to Lou Nell Gustavson.

John earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from North Texas State University. His lifelong career was as a bailiff in the Collin County Courthouse. His hobbies included woodworking, hunting and spending time with friends. He was also a member of the River of Life church, in Mason.

He is survived by his sister Lou Nell of Topeka, KS., his niece Susan Maxwell, her husband Steve Maxwell and their three children, Grace, Isabelle and Robert Maxwell of Manhattan, KS.

A memorial service will be set at a later date due to the pandemic. He will be laid to rest in Giddings, TX with the other Mayfields.
