Obituary

Joan Margaret Williams was born on April 16, 1932 in Hicksville, New York to Roland Wenner and Helen Zatorski Wenner. She died at her son's home in Lawton, Oklahoma on Saturday, April 7. Joan grew up in Hicksville and went to nursing school after graduation from high school.

Joan met her future husband, Cecil Williams while he was serving in the United States Navy and was stationed at the Brooklyn Naval yard. She was training to be a Licensed Vocational Nurse at the time and continued in that career throughout her life. She and Cecil traveled to numerous duty stations in the years following their marriage. They retire in Fredonia, Texas and moved to Mason a short time later.

Following her husband's death in 1991 Joan devoted her life to serving others as an ombudsman, mentor for students, volunteer at many community service organizations, and as an active member of St. Paul Lutheran church. Her life-long devotion to her Lord and savior Jesus Christ has been an example to everyone she came into contact with, especially her family.

Joan is survived by three children, David and Deborah Williams, Barbara Williams, Allen and Linda Williams, her grandchildren: Wesley Williams, John Chmiel, Shannon Williams, Mandie Williams, Jennifer Santiago, Rebecca Hunt, Thomas Williams, Randall Williams, Lily Williams, Arthur Williams, Scott Williams and Katrina Leifeste, great-grandchildren: Mia Williams, Shane Trinidad, Miracle Trinidad, Jessica Chmiel, Maddalynne Chmiel, Gabriela Chmiel, Emiliah Chmiel, Chloe Carrol, Abigail Carroll, Isaac Hunt, Emma Hunt, Jacob Santiago, Jaxon Santiago, Noah Williams, Micah Williams, Matthew Williams, Josiah Williams, Braelyn Williams, Kinleigh Williams, Traycen Williams, Matthew Harney and Jace Leifeste. She is also survived by two brothers Rolland and Leslie Wenner. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cecil J. Williams, her brother Robert Wenner and her son Gary S. Williams.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 12, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mason. Interment will follow in the Wagram Cemetery.
