Jesus Israel Reyes of 1105 Ischar St, Mason, TX passed away on August 18,2024, after a long battle with dementia.

He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Adela Reyes Ramirez; three children – Jesus Reyes, Jr. of Fort Worth TX, Jaime Reyes of Grapevine Tx, and Alma Ritter Reyes of Mason, and a beloved niece Aracelie Gutierrez of Dallas, TX; eleven grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Genaro Reyes of Fort Worth, TX and a sister Oralia Flores Reyes of Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico.

Jesus was born in San Jose de Aura, Coahuila, Mexico in 1926. Jesus and Adela were married in 1948 and immigrated to Texas with their two small boys in 1953 seeking a better life and more opportunities. They settled in Coleman County, TX. Their daughter Alma was born in Coleman, TX a year later. Jesus and Adela settled in the community of Gouldbusk in southern Coleman County where Jesus worked as a farm laborer and sharecropper. They raised their three children in the Gouldbusk community and saw them graduate from Mozelle High School and go on to college at the University of Texas at Arlington where the three graduated with college degrees and went on to pursue successful professional careers. Jesus and Adela moved from Coleman County to Grand Prairie, TX after the children went on to college. Jesus worked for another 20 years in residential and commercial construction before retiring in 1993. They moved to Mason, TX in 2019 to be closer to the family-owned Tres Reyes Ranch. Jesus was a loving husband and father who taught by example, assigning responsibilities and sharing his work knowledge. He instilled in his children a strong work ethic, honesty, and integrity. He often said no job is beneath you if it helps you achieve your goals. He also helped two brothers, and a sister immigrate to Texas in the 1950's.
