LOUGENIA FAY “JEANNE” STOCKBRIDGE KIDD

Lougenia Fay “Jeanne” Stockbridge Kidd of Katemcy passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, at the age of 87. Jeanne was born on May 13, 1939, to Dewey and Oleta (Adams) Stockbridge.

After graduating from Mason High School, she married Gene Kidd. They spent 69 happy years together.They lived a simple life on the farm, where Jeanne helped Gene with the farming, especially during the fall when the peanuts were ready to harvest.She was a fantastic mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, always making sure her family felt special and loved.

Jeanne had many hobbies and interests no that brought her great joy throughout her life. She was an avid reader and enjoyed thousands of books throughout her life. She also enjoyed rock hunting, and her prized topaz was featured in the Mason Museum. Many hours were spent in her yard, caring for beautiful flowers and creating numerous flowerbeds. Gene even built her a large greenhouse so she could enjoy having even more plants. Oil painting was another passion of hers, and she became a talented artist, painting many beautiful pictures without ever taking a lesson. She also loved the challenge of putting together puzzles, and had a competitive spirit that was contagious, which especially came out during a good game of Yahtzee. Many wonderful afternoons were spent with close friends and family, enjoying each other’s company over a hot cup of coffee.

She will be missed beyond measure.

Jeanne is survived by her husband, Gene Kidd; her son, Terry Kidd (Gail); her daughter, Sheri Simon (Dewayne); her brother, Paul Dale Stockbridge (Betty); and her brother, Randy Stockbridge (Connie).

Grandchildren:Wesley Simon (Kaley) of Dripping Springs, Texas;Casey Simon (Tiffany) of College Station, Texas;Miranda Griffith (Robert) of Houston, Texas;Miriah Kidd (Travis) of Mason, Texas; andK’lee Bibb (Garrett) of Fate, Texas.

Great-grandchildren: Addy and Hannah Simon of Dripping Springs;Ryder and Harley Simon of College Station;Barron Griffith of Houston; andBaby Girl Griffith, on the way.She is also survived by all of her nieces and nephews.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Donnie Stockbridge (Sue); her nephew, Dewey Stockbridge; and her grandson, Beau Anders.  

Serving as pallbearers are: Terry Kidd, Dewayne Simon, Robert Griffith, Travis Young, Casey Simon, and Wesley Simon.

A graveside service will be held at Bethel Cemetery on Saturday, September 12, at 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at First United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Cemetery, the Mason County Cancer Fund, or a charity of your choice.
