Janet Hayes Keller, age 84, passed away peacefully in her home June 23, 2021.  She was born February 19, 1937 in Ottawa, Ontario Canada, to Mabel and William Hayes.

Jan grew up in Canada where she learned to play the piano, ice skate on the frozen lakes and tap dance across stages.  She and her sister, Joan, tapped their way into the hearts of soldiers coming home or heading off to war. Her mom would play the piano, her dad the fiddle, and her brother Jerry collected the coins the soldiers threw on the stage. Her parents instilled a love of music in their hearts and taught them at an early age that doing something for others would bring joy to their hearts … Jan was always doing for others and loved making people laugh.  She later became a RN and loved her nursing career. It was this career that led her to Texas, as a traveling nurse, where she met her "real" cowboy and never returned to Canada.  She married her cowboy, friend, and love, George Keller, in September of 1961, who proceeded her in death in 2010.

George and Jan lived in Mason, TX where they raised their five children.  She was active in her in church, St. Joseph's, where she played the organ for many years and supported her husband as a Deacon of the church.  She also shared her creativity and love of art by painting signs for local businesses, she painted mega-phones for the cheerleaders and always made the high school Coronation stages extra special and beautiful.

Jan loved to love people.  She shared her love with food and was always cooking for her five children and their friends that they would spontaneously bring home.  Her biggest joy was feeding our friends and sitting around the kitchen table listening in on all of the stories and there was always plenty of food for everyone.  She loved to paint with acrylics, which she discovered after losing her husband, George and found it to be cathartic while missing the love of her life. In her final days, Jan got to sing, dance and play the piano and bring joy to others hearts!

Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — "be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgives you in Christ."

Jan is survived by her five children, Michael Keller, wife Juanita of Mason, TX, children Logan and Mason; Laura Keith, husband Shane of Mason, TX, children Lauren Stockbridge and husband Ronald (with baby boy Stockbridge on the way), Mark Keller of Kerrville, TX, children Hayden and Lauren Connolly; Kathryn Ray, husband Chad of Midland, TX, children Keller and George; John Keller, wife Sherry of Mason, TX, children Tyson and Tristin; her niece, Janet Sharp, husband John, daughter Kelsey, of Salem, South Carolina; and her very special friends the "Charm Sisters".

Visitation with the family will be Friday, June 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home with a Rosary to follow at 7:00. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 26, at 10:00 a.m. at St Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Gooch Cemetery.
