Obituary

Jamie Martinez of Mason was born on December 31, 1970, and went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 13, 2023, at the age of 53.

Jamie is survived by his loving wife, Josie Martinez, and his four children: J'Angelo Martinez and his wife, Courtney; John Paul Martinez; Joseph Martinez; and Ashley Martinez. He is also survived by his mother, Elodia Martinez, and stepfather, Sammy Hernandez, as well as his brother, Fabian Soto, and his sisters, Annette Longoria and her husband, Margarito; Sulema Longoria; and Marisol Hernandez. Jamie leaves behind three cherished grandchildren: Cameron Martinez, Chloe Martinez, and Kennedy Ramos- he always said his grandbabies were his whole world.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul T. Martinez, and his sister, Jannette Ann Soto.

Jamie was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and grandfather. He deeply loved all his nieces and nephews, treasuring the time he spent with them. He was a dear friend to many and loved by all. He loved his family and displayed his love through acts of service and words of affirmation. Every day, he made it a point to call, simply to tell them how much he loved them and to chat. He lived a life filled with joy, especially when he was surrounded by his loved ones. Jamie was an avid football fan who loved three teams: The Mason Punchers, Texas Longhorns, and the Dalas Cowboys.

Jamie cherished going on adventures with his family, with the annual beach vacation being a particular favorite.

Jamie was an animal lover and enjoyed visiting the zoo, he would go every day if he could!

He had a love for sweets and enjoyed hobbies like collecting baseball cards, coins, and rocks. He was also the designated Grill Master of family cookouts.

Jamie was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed his time seeking the Lord.

A rosary was held in his honor at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Mason Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment followed at Crosby Cemetery.
