Obituary

James McKay Black passed away on Sunday, August 2 at the age of 45. James was born in Del Rio, Texas on February 25, 1975 to William Larry Black and Brenda Hough Black. Due to his father's job with the Border Patrol, James moved around quite a bit as a child. He graduated from Alpine High School where he was Honorable Mention All West Texas in football and a member of the National Honor Society.

After high school, James attended the Range Management School at TCU. After college, James made his home in Stephenville where he worked as a horse trainer and ferrier. He spent the last year and a half working in Oklahoma. James enjoyed helping others and donated his time to the Wounded Warriors organization.

James is survived by his parents William Larry and Brenda Black of Hext, two daughters Mishay Anthony and husband Cody of Stephenville and McKay Black of Stephenville, a grandson Ryle Anthony, uncles and aunts: Don and Becky Black of Wimberley, Scott and Linda Black of Menard, Herbert and Sharon Neumann of Bigfoot, Richard Hough Jr. of Austin, and his cousins Trenton Wilson, Shannon Gutowski, Jess Black, Stacy Bell, Leslie Salazar, and Jason Black.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Hext Cemetery. Family and friends will have a gathering at Hext VFD immediately following the service.
