J.R. Wolf, of Temple, passed away on Thursday, March 6, the age of 86. Survivors include his neighbors and friends the Lewis family of Temple. Graveside services and interment will be held on Friday, March 7, at 2:00 p.m. at the Gooch Cemetery in Mason.
Alton Junior Ray Wolf, J.R. as he was known to friends was born on July 3, 1927 near Calf Creek, in McCulloch County on a sack in a shack in the middle of a cotton patch at the Roy B. Ewing Ranch. His parents were Charles Washington Wolf and Sarah Seletha "Johnnie" Millsap Wolf.
J.R. served his country in the United States Army and for many years operated a dry cleaning business. He eventually retired to a little farm near Temple where he became good friends with the Lewis family who took him in as part of their family.
It was his wish to return to Mason County and be buried beside his mother and her family.
