Ida O'Neal, of Mason, passed away on Friday, June 24, at the age of 97. Funeral services for Ida O'Neal will be held on Monday, June 27, at 11:30 a.m. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Gooch Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Sunday afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Steve Moore, Wesley Womack, Andy Womack, Jerry Morris, Willie Carter and Colby Boedeker. Honorary pallbearers are Terry McMillan, Dwayne Simmons, Marvin Stahl and Pat Avalos.

Survivors include her children Nina Mae Blair and husband Wesley of Bedford, Riley Gerald O'Neal and wife Mary Louise of San Antonio and Emzie Lee O'Neal of Pleasanton, a sister Hazel Bruno of Beaver, Utah, 2 grandchildren Nancy Moore and husband Steve and Shirley Womack and husband Andy, 5 great-grandchildren Stephanie Boedeker and husband Colby, Ashley Moore, Amanda Johnson, Sheridan Womack and Wesley Womack and 3 great-great-grandchildren Coy Boedeker, Boe Boedeker and Gus O'Neal Boedeker. Ida was preceded in death by her husband Jack O'Neal and a great-granddaughter Alicia Womack.

Ida was born on February 14, 1914 in Brady to William Alexander Morris and Lily Snow Morris. She was raised in the Mason area and on November 11, 1931 she married Jackson Riley O'Neal in Corpus Christi. They made their home in Corpus Christi until moving to Mason in 1970. Ida was a faithful member of the Mason Church of Christ. She was a generous woman who enjoyed helping others. She loved to bake her famous hot rolls for people and many people in Mason have been privileged to be given one of the many aprons that she made. It is requested that anyone attending the funeral that has one of these aprons to please wear it to the funeral. Ida was a hard worker that just couldn't sit still! She just had to keep busy! She also enjoyed making quilt tops and just having people around. She was full of energy and full of life.

Memorials in her honor may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, any veteran's organization or to Hill Country Memorial Hospice in Fredericksburg.
