Hubert Morgan, of Pontotoc, passed away on Monday, May 14, at the age of 88.  He was born at the family ranch at Field Creek in Llano County on July 14, 1929 to Otto V. Morgan and Virginia Simpson Morgan. Hubert attended school at San Fernando Academy in Pontotoc and in Llano where he graduated from high school.

After high school Hubert worked as a cowboy and also did carpentry work. In 1951 he joined the army and served in Korea. While stationed in Indiana with the Army, Herbert met and fell in love with Patricia Dwyer. They were married on June 14, 1952 in Indianapolis. After Hubert left the Army they moved to Texas for a short while before returning to Indiana where Hubert started his career with AT&T-Southwestern Bell. This career would last for 30 years and take them from Indiana and then all over the state of Texas.

After retiring, they moved to Pontotoc where Hubert used his carpentry skills to build their house. He also worked with his brother J.R. ranching and farming peanuts and watermelons. He enjoyed working with his brother and he absolutely loved riding his horse and ranching. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and loved to play poker (and was good at it).

Hubert was a family man. He always considered his greatest accomplishment to be his family. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grand father and brother.

He is survived by his children Laura Ann Branstetter and husband Rob of San Antonio, Elizabeth Lee Morgan of Pontotoc, Cynthia Ellen Morgan of Pontotoc, John Patrick Morgan and wife Sandra Rheinhardt Morgan of Field Creek, Patricia Anne Morgan of Pontotoc and a sister Myrtle Joyce Simpson of Llano. Hubert is also survived by a granddaughter Claire Perry and husband Jason of Phoenix, Arizona, step-grandchildren Blake and Kristin Crumley, great-grandson Christopher Perry and step-great-grandchildren Mehkayla and Mehkenzie Mulski. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Morgan, his brother J.R. Morgan and a grandson James Branstetter

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, May 18, at 10:00 a.m. at the Cold Creek Cemetery in Llano County with Chaplain Elizabeth Barr leading the service.
