Hilda Maria
Velez Gierisch
Feb 9, 1965 — Jan 8, 2022
"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13
Hilda Maria Velez Gierish, 56, entered into heaven on Saturday, January 8, 2022.
Hilda is welcomed into heaven by her daddy, Roman Velez, Sr. "La Chona" and momma, Maria Guadalupe Bermea.
While her earthly presence will be missed, Hilda will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind; especially her husband, Terry Wayne Gierish of Mason; her pride and joys, her son Christopher Brian Martinez and grandson, Corbin Brady Martinez of Mason, and her daughter, Marissa Louise Gierisch of San Angelo.
Born in Eagle Pass, Texas, Hilda, along with her older brother Roman and her Daddy and Momma, moved to Mason where she would become a lifelong resident. Hilda attended Mason High School and enjoyed watching Little House on the Prairie and The Walton's; her favorite pastime, cooking and baking for her family and friends and dancing a good tejano song.
She played many roles in her community and is known by many for her friendly smile. Hilda encompassed a warm and welcoming presence at her workplace, Short Stop, where she was employed for 22 years. In her most prized roles, Hilda was known as Ma, Nama, Sister, Tia Hilda, and Heela.
She now holds the title of guardian angel to her six brothers and sisters; Roman Velez, Jr. and his wife Philomena Velez of Cristoval, Valentin Velez and wife Leticia Velez of Mason, Enrique Velez and wife Diana Velez of San Diego, California, Melissa Velez of San Angelo, Texas, Zelma Martinez and husband Abel Martinez of Mason, and Beatrice Zepeda and husband Miguel Zepeda of Georgetown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation services celebrating the life and legacy of Hilda Maria will be held on Monday, January 10th at Mason Funeral Home from 5 to 7 pm followed by a Rosary at 7 pm. Hilda's holy mass will be held at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, Tuesday, January 11th at 10 am followed by interment at Crosby Cemetery.
Escorting her to her final resting place are Charlie Reichenau, Coby Joe Velez, David Ellison, Elba Nail, Glenn Tatsch, and Lucas Velez.
Hilda's family is comforted in knowing that she is eternally happy in the presence of her lord and savior, her momma and daddy, and her extended family and friends.
