Herbert Gene Jordan, of Mason, passed away at his home on Thursday, December 10, at the age of 83. Herbert was born in Mason County on August 12, 1932 to Marvin E. Jordan and Hattie Geistweidt Jordan. He was a life-long resident of Mason County and a graduate of Mason High School. Herbert was a rancher and he also worked at Mason Feed Store for 30 years.

On October 7, 1956, Herbert married the love of his life, Geraldine Henderson. They were together for 46 years. Geraldine passed away in December of 2002.

Herbert is survived by his children Jean Austin and husband John , of Austin, Robert Jordan, of Mason, Sandra Jordan of Mason and James Jordan and wife Jackie of Midland.
He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, a brother Nathaniel Jordan and wife Wanda of Art, three sisters Jan Carpenter and husband Owen of Austin, Vida Joseph and husband Kenneth of Jacksonville, Texas and Gloria Bielfeldt of San Antonio. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Geraldine and a brother Charles Marvin Jordan.

Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 12, at 4:00 p.m. in the Mason Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Mike Weaver leading the service. Interment will follow in the Gooch Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Johnny Austin, Matt Jordan, Scott Jordan, Jeff Jordan, Joshua Jordan, Mike Flores, Michael Sembritzky and Troy Smith. Honorary pallbearer is David Joseph.
