Obituary

Hazel Marie Russell Barrington, 93, of Mason, Texas, passed away on March 20, 2013 at her residence.

Hazel was born in Georgetown, Texas on March 11, 1920. She was the youngest of eight children to Charles Thomas and Nora Ann Vann Russell. Being the last surviving member of her family, she was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, four brothers, and a beloved grandson. Hazel lived her childhood days in Georgetown and graduated from Georgetown High School. After attending business school in Houston, she held a variety of jobs in Houston, Austin, and Georgetown. She was of Baptist faith and a member of the Ladies' Auxilliary, VFW Post 8587 in Georgetown.

Hazel was married on December 20, 1941 to Madison Edward Barrington in Florence, Texas. Edward was raised in Jonah, Texas and was in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. After World War II, Edward returned to active duty until retirement. Hazel and her children served with Edward in Japan, Germany, and a number of bases in the United States. After 49 years of marriage, Edward preceded her in death on December 9, 1991. Three children were born of this union, all surviving. Linda Marie Morris and husband, Sam, of Mason, Texas, Madison Russell (Bo) Barrington and wife, Pat, of Buchanan Dam, Texas, and Diana Josephine Pierce and husband Clyde (deceased), of Mason. Five beloved grandchildren survive; Lisa Grief, Stanley Green, Tammy Davis, Russell Barrington, and Pamela Green. Another very special grandson, Matt Morris, was taken in a tragic car accident in February, 2002. Hazel is also survived by several great-grandchildren that she loved very much; Brandon Pyle, Garrett Grief, Samantha Grief, Austin Grief, Stephanie Green, Patricia Green, and James Green. Also surviving are two great-great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Hazel Barrington was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and a very special Nana.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 o'clock on Saturday, March 23 at Liberty Hill Cemetery, Liberty Hill, Texas with Robert Long, of Bastrop, Texas officiating. Memorials may be sent to the "Matt Morris Memorial Scholarship Fund', The Gooch Cemetery in Mason, the Liberty Hill Cemetery, or to the charity of your choice.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Grief, Garrett Grief, Austin Grief, Stanley Green, Russell Barrington and Brandon Pyle.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Tereasa Thompson, Ana Ordonez and the Country Home Health Ladies for their years of love and dedication to Hazel. The family would also like to thank the Llano Memorial hospice for the wonderful care given to Hazel during her last days.
