Hazel Martin, of Mason, passed away on Thursday, September 9, at the age of 88. Mrs. Martin is survived by a son Seth Martin and wife Kathryn and a daughter Beth Martin, 2 grandchildren Todd Martin and wife Sheri, Glen Martin and wife Rae Ann and 6 great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Lucas, Chama, Sierra, Aspen and Dakota Martin all of Mason along with a double first cousin Richard "Dick" Hoerster and wife Maxine of Fredericksburg and a sister-in-law Mildred "Mimi" Walker of Mason. She also leaves behind a very dear and long-time friend Gloria Lehmberg. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband Seth P. Martin Jr., a sister Betty Lock and a brother Dr. Sam Hoerster.

Hazel was born in Mason County on October 11, 1921 to Samuel August Hoerster and Emily Elizabeth Jordan Hoerster. She was a graduate of Mason High School and also attended Texas Women's College. Hazel married Seth P. Martin Jr. on November 20, 1942 in Art. They were together for over 53 years until his death in 1996. Hazel was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Mason and in addition to being a homemaker was involved in the family ranching operation.

Funeral services for Hazel Martin will be held on Sunday, September 12, at 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mason. Interment will follow in the Martin Family Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home.

Memorials in her honor may be made to the Mason Senior Center, Hill Country Memorial Hospital or to the charity of one's choice.
