Harry "Chimp" Evans of Mason passed away on Friday May 21, 2010 in the River Hill Nursing and Rehab Center in Kerrville, TX at the age of 87.
Harry was born on March 27, 1923 to Hugh Evans and Julia Evans nee Kirkpatrick in Katemcy Texas one of eight children. Harry joined the Navy and served his country honorably. Harry was a self employed painter. His hobbies he would say are working, fishing and gardening. Harry was a jack of all trades and master of them too.
Harry "Chimp" Evans is survived by his wife Glenda Evans of Mason; sons David Evans Sr. and his wife Evelyn of Brady, Louis Evans and his wife Tammy of Spring TX; daughter Carolyn Ann Moneyhon of Mason; stepsons Butch Bracy of Brady, Don Neal of Brady, Slade Poe and wife Cindy of Brady; stepdaughter Camee Blackburn and her husband Willis of Llano; brother W.G. "Cotton" Evans of Camp Air; sisters, Mary Ellen Davis of Llano and Beth Chew and husband Tom of Mason; 17 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Harry is preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years Nadine Evans, Sisters Doris Beasley, Mildred Zirax, Mozelle Bracy; brother Bill Evans
Funeral services for Mr. Evans will be Sunday May 23, 2010 at 2:00pm in the Mason Funeral Home with Charles Partin officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Camp Air.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Saturday May 22, 2010 in the Mason Funeral Home.
Grandsons, Chris Evans, John Evans, Brandon Moneyhon, Rusty Williams, Scott Evans, Derek Evans, David Evans Jr. will serve as Pallbearers. Charlie Grosse, Chuck Bearden, Steve Andrews and Willie Carter will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
