HC (Henry Carl) Reichenau 99, went through the gates of heaven Tuesday June 13, 2017 just 4 months short of his 100th birthday. He said, "I hate to leave you all, but I can't live forever. " Now he is living his promised Eternal Life. He said he was ready to go see Gen, his wife of 70 years and Jesus. His friends and family rejoice in the Godly life he lived on this earth. He loved life because he loved people.

HC was born October 31, 1917 on the family ranch near London, Texas where he grew up. He was the son of Hugo and Meta (Otte) Reichenau. He attended the Little Saline School. He married Genevieve Durst August 2, 1941 in Art, Texas. They lived on the Slater Ranch where HC had the farming part of the ranch leased and also worked as a cowboy. In 1947, HC and Gen moved to the Door Key Ranch near Christoval, Texas where he worked as a cowboy. In 1950 they moved to San Angelo where he went to work for the Texas Highway Department. He retired in 1982 after 32 years of service. HC and Gen moved to Mason in 2000. He was a member of the First United Methhodist Church and the Mason Lions Club until his death.

After retiring, he continued to stay busy helping others, refinishing furniture in his garage, painting houses, peeling pecans, going to grandchildren and great grandchildren's sporting events. He had special friends he visited with many evenings in his garage. These gentlemen Harold Hoerster, Gene Gammill, Tommy Durst and James Kingston, filled days with great conversation and love. HC celebrated his birthdays on Halloween with neighbors, family and many friends circled around him passing lots of candy to children.

His family will be forever grateful for the Christ-like roll model for children and grandchildren,

He is survived by his sons Charles Reichenau and wife Linda of Mason, Don Reichenau of Fredericksburg, four grandchildren, Clint Reichenau and wife Brittany, Joy (Reichenau) Higgins and husband Mike of Wall, Texas, Cody Reichenau and wife Allyson, Carly (Reichenau) Mantegani and husband Nick, and their mother Carolyn, all of Austin, and six great-grandchildren, Grant Eubank, Abby Eubank, Isabelle Reichenau, Addison Reichenau, Gage and Ian Reichenau. He is also survived by nieces Kay Ponder of Bay Town and Gina Pfeiffer of Fredericksburg and nephew Donald Durst of Mason.

H. C. was preceded in death by his wife Gen of 70 years, his 6-year-old brother Harold, his older brother Elgin Reichenau, and Estel Otte, his cousin and lifelong friend.

Pallbearers are Clint Reichenau, Grant Eubank, Mike Higgins, Sterling Turrentine, Nick Mantegani, and Cody Reichenau.

Junior pallbearers are great-grandsons, Gage and Ian Reichenau of Wall.

Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Durst, Gene Gammill, Harold Hoerster, James Kingston, and Dan Schlander, Kirby Groves and Bill Hight.
