Obituary

Greg Lurz, passed away on Saturday, January 14, in Mason, at the age of 66. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 28, 1950 to Alfred Ernst Oscar Lurz and Anne Parker Lurz. For many years he worked as a purchasing manager in the telecommunications industry.

Greg's favorite hobby was wood working. He enjoyed making furniture and building things. After he retired he put these skills to work with Habitat for Humanity full time. Greg and his wife Pam traveled around the country building houses and working as part of the Disaster Recovery Team with Habitat for Humanity. Greg and Pam have been involved with Habitat for Humanity for the last 20 years.

Greg and Pam have worked in Mason the last three years with Greg serving as the "Project Supervisor". As supervisor he and Pam would come to Mason and see the house through from start to finish. As such, Greg was known around town as "that Habitat guy". A title of which he was justly proud.

Greg is survived by his wife Pamela St. Denis Lurz, a son Matthew "Matt" Lurz of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a daughter Sarah Lackowski and husband Nick of Bartlett, Illinois, a brother Glenn Lurz and wife Peggy of Groveland, Illinois and five grandchildren: Allie and Joey Lackowski and Georgia, Ella and Ezekiel Lurz.

A memorial service celebrating Greg's life will be held on Thursday, January 19, at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mason.
