George Paul Schoenfeld of Mason, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2023, at the age of 83. George was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Lea Schoenfeld; son, Michael Wayne Hoffman; and brother, Arvin (Shane) Schoenfeld. He is survived by his other son, Cody Ray Schoenfeld and wife, Heather of Highland Village, Texas; daughter-in-law, Julie Hoffman of Kingsland, Texas; five grandchildren, Cameron Schoenfeld, Christina Hoffman, Justin Hoffman, Rachel Hoffman, and Chrystaleigh Hoffman; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

George was born on April 10, 1940, in Castell, Texas, to the late Andrew and Mamie Schoenfeld. He was a graduate of Mason High School (class of 1958). After high school, George enlisted in the United States Navy where he completed the Naval Avionics Electronics Fundamental Program in Norfolk, Virginia. After completing his service as an Avionics Electronics Technician, he transitioned back to civilian life and began employment as an electronics technician for Xerox Corporation in Austin, Texas. George retired from Xerox and moved back to Mason in 1983. George worked for a short period of time for Draper Electric until he decided to start his own business, George Schoenfeld Electrical Service. He provided electrical and HVAC services for the residence of Mason for nearly 25 years. He has probably left a tool or flashlight in many of the attics in town.

George was an active member of the Mason Church of Christ, and involved in the local community volunteering his time to charitable organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Mason Church of Christ, and the American Legion as well as anything his late wife, Judy, asked him to do. This list was vast and never ending. He was also quite skilled in the game of 42 dominoes.

Funeral Services for George Schoenfeld will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mason Church of Christ in Mason, Texas. Interment will follow at the Gooch Cemetery. George's family and friends will be serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 p.m. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel, on the Thursday prior to the service.

Memorials in his honor may be made to the Mason County Cancer Benefit or Mason Church of Christ.
