Obituary

George (Mack) Michael Karnes Sr. was called home June 22, 2019.

A memorial with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday July 3, 2019 at 6pm at the home of Belinda and Daniel Gainer near Fredonia on Hwy 71. The family invites all those who knew and loved him to join them.

George was born September 2, 1954 in Brownwood, Texas to Noah and Zelma (Brown) Karnes. George joined the Army his junior year of high school and proudly served his country from September 1973 to November 1976. He finished his education and graduated from Mullin High School 1977. George met Debra Cook on October 13, 1980 and they married February 21, 1981. George and Debra began a long and happy life together raising three kids. George and Debra were married for 38 wonderful years.

George was a wonderful husband and father and an amazing Poppy. Anyone that had an encounter with him always walked away laughing and smiling. He loved to make people laugh. George never met a stranger, he would walk up and talk to anyone, anywhere. George loved to fish, garden, build things, watch hummingbirds and squirrels, teach his dog tricks and anything else he could find to keep him busy and outside.

George is survived by his wife Debra Karnes of Mason, Tx, Daughter Belinda Gainer and husband Daniel of Fredonia, Tx, son George Karnes and wife Kelly of Portage, WI, daughter Mika Carlile and husband Jason of Coleman, Tx. Six grandchildren, Whitney Gainer, Daniel Gainer, Kenley Karnes, Jason Harless Jr., Brooklynn Harrington and Whitten Carlile. Brother Leo Karnes and wife Judy of Brownwood, Tx, sister Cindy Dooley and husband Jerry of Goldthwaite, Tx, brother Robert Karnes and wife Juanita of Brownwood, Tx, sister Kitty Ubnoski and husband Oscar of San Angelo, Tx, sister Linda Tippi and husband Jim of Priddy, Tx, sister Dorothy Karnes of Brownwood, Tx, brother Noah Karnes of Gatesville, Tx, three Brothers in law Jerry Cook and wife Marla, Johnny Cook and wife Rosa, Eugene Cook and wife Velia, two sisters in laws Judy Howell and husband Edward, Theresa Allin and husband Jerry all of Brady,Tx. Along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and loved ones.

George is preceded in death by his parents Noah and Zelma Karnes, brother John Karnes, sister Penny Marshall, brother Leslie Karnes and sister Donna Karnes.
