Obituary

Gai Ann Harper, of Mason, passed away on Thursday, October 10, at the age of 64. Survivpors include her husband Sam "Buzzy" Harper, of Mason, her daughter Toy Hardin and husband Cole of San Angelo, two grandchildren Case and Caylee Hardin, both of San Angelo, a sister Holly Golden and husband George of Corpus Christi, sister-in-law Yvonne Eckert and brother-in-law Dayton Harper.

Gai Ann was born in San Angelo, the daughter of Holland Smith and Hazel Smallwood Smith. She live in South Texas, Coleman, and Mason and worked as a beautician. She married "Buzzy" in 1988 and they made their home in Mason County. She loved animals, especially dogs and horses and was a champion barrel racer. Gai Ann liked to decorate her home, she enjoyed fishing and traveling and she really liked her jewelry.

Gai Ann dearly loved her grandchildren and loved to spend time with them or just visit on the phone with them. She really "lit up" whenever they were around and they loved seeing their "MeMe". She was a devoted caregiver to family members and had a special love for the elderly or those who could not help themselves.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 14, at 2:00 p.m. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rusty Felts officiating. Interment will follow in the Harper Family Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. Serving as pallbearers are Case and Cole Hardin, Dayton Harper, George Golden and Ernie and Larry Eckert. Honorary pallbearers are B.h. Nobles, Dewey Eckert, Dicky Schmidt and Jerry Dutton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Texas Boys Ranch.
