Frank A. Hernandez, of Mason, went to his eternal home Tuesday, February 4, 2014. He was 73 years young.
Funeral services for Frank Hernandez will be held on Saturday, February 8, at 2:00 p.m. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Crosby Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00.
Frank was born January 4, 1941, in Katemcy to Anselmo J. Hernandez and Bersabe A. Ramos. He married Paula Cantu on August 21, 1965. He was a hard-working man who cared for his family diligently and with all devotion. He performed many jobs including working as a ranch foreman and stockyard cowboy. He was employed at the peanut plant, the sand plant, and eventually became an over-the-road truck driver.
Frank loved sharing and teaching God's Word with others. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church for 22 years. For the last four years he ministered with the FCO Prison Ministry team in Big Spring, Texas where he preached to hundreds of inmates. He also held a weekly Bible Study in his home up to the time of his illness. He attended Calvario Baptist Church in Menard. There he enjoyed volunteering at Camp Menard assisting with campground maintenance and retreats. He especially loved playing guitar with the church praise and worship team. He loved joining any music group to help make music for the Lord.
Frank was preceded in death by his father, Anselmo J. Hernandez, his mother, Bersabe A. Ramos, his brothers Anselmo (Peewee) Hernandez, Pascual (J.B.) A. Ramos, Antonio A. Ramos, David A. Ramos, Gregorio A. Ramos, and a sister, Erlinda A. Herrera.
Frank is survived by his spouse, Paula C. Hernandez of Mason, daughter, Sophia Luna and husband James of Big Spring, Belinda Hernandez of San Angelo, sons Josue Hernandez and wife Martha of Menard, Jacob Hernandez and wife Esther of Floresville. He has 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister Francisca Castillo and husband Victor of Mason, and a brother, Anselmo (Jack) Hernandez and wife Corina of Eden and many nephews and nieces.
