Frank Jerry
Gamel
Jan 17, 1929 — Sep 8, 2019
Frank Jerry Gamel was born to Frank James Gamel and Hazel Richardson Gamel in Grit, Texas, on January 17, 1929. He passed from this world in the early hours of September 8, 2019, at home as he had wished.
He grew up on the family farm in Katemcy, Texas. He attended the early years of school at the Peters Prairie School in Camp Air; and then, the Mason County Schools consolidated and he attended Mason High School, where he graduated in 1946. He farmed in Katemcy until he was called to serve in Korea.
When he returned from service, he married Pearline Joy Gamel. They were married for 40 years and had three children. Jerry was immensely proud of his children and the many accomplishments in their lives, and he was just as proud of his three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Pearline Gamel, by his parents, by granddaughter, Lilly Joy Gamel, and by his sisters, Elsie Dockal and Louise Sturdivant.
He is survived by his children: Connie Stockbridge and husband Randy; Steven Gamel and wife Merlina; Gerald Gamel; and by his grandchildren: Leslie Becker and husband Travis of Snook, Texas; and, Dewey Stockbridge and wife Shannon of Alpine, Texas. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Aubrey Joy Becker of Snook; Jameson Slade Stockbridge and London Sloan Stockbridge of Alpine; and, by his very special friend, Elizabeth Roberts of Brownwood, Texas.
Graveside services will be held at the Bethel Cemetery in Camp Air on Wednesday, September 11 at 10:00 a.m..
Memorials may be made to the Bethel Cemetery Fund, the Lilly Joy Gamel Memorial at Mason Bank, or the charity of your choice.
