Obituary

Frances Kent, of Mason, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, at the age of 88. Mrs. Kent is survived by her husband Tom Kent, of Mason, a daughter Kathi Turner and husband David of Andrews, 6 grandchildren: Angela Rae Turner of Boerne, Lacey Turner of Boerne, Kareese Boone of Corpus Christi, Katy Tyler of Mason, Colin Kent Tyler and wife Camille of San Angelo and Cody Tyler of Houston and 6 great-grandchildren: Alexis and Jerimiah Boone, Blake, Brady and Emberlin Baker and David Schooley along with many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter Kary Tyler, four brothers and three sisters.

Frances was born in Brown County on January 28, 1931 to Willy P. Lyons and Maude Hardin Lyons. She was a graduate of Rising Star High School. While attending school Frances met Tom Kent. While they were friends, they did not date until after they had graduated. They eventually fell in love and were married in 1953 just a few days after Tom finished serving in the Army.

Frances and Tom made their home in Kermit and lived there for the next 7 ½ years. While in Kermit their marriage was blessed with two daughters Kathi and Kary. They then moved to Knox City where they lived for the next 26 years before moving to Mason.

Frances and Tom shared a deep Christian faith and they shared that faith with their daughters by example, by reading the bible, through song and through attendance at church. Frances was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
