Obituary

Margueritte Feguson Epps, of Mason, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, at the age of 97.  Margueritte was born on October 11, 1924, in Ore City, Texas.  She was the youngest of three daughters born to Jim and Nora Ferguson.  She grew up in Ore City and was known as Mimi to all her friends and neighbors.  She attended school there and after graduation continued her education at Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, Texas and Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas.  She was active in school activities as well as sports, especially tennis.

World war II brought Harmon General Hospital to Longview and Mimi's first employment was in the office of the laboratory there.  After the hospital closed, she worked for United Gas, there she met her future husband, Richard Epps.  They were married in 1950 and became proud parents of two sons, Stephen Richard and Scott Randall Epps.  Mimi was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She loved her family.

Mimi was a Methodist from birth and participated in many activities of the church.  She was an active member of Methodist Women for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, husband Richard Epps, son, Scott Randall Epps, and her sisters Mable Dean Tate and Mildred Harrison.  Mimi is survived by her son Steve Epps and wife Jamie of Mason, granddaughter Jennifer Kennedy and husband Chris and great-grandsons Mason Richard Kennedy, of San Antonio and Charlie George Kennedy.  She was also enjoyed by extended family grandson Shawn Mumme and wife Stacy, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson, Easton.

A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, March 13, at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mason with Rev. Peter Aguilar leading the service.  Interment of her cremated remains will take place at a later date in Ore City, Texas.
