Frances Hernandez Castillo, a devoted grandmother, mother, and wife who dedicated her life to her family and business as a cosmetologist, left this Earth to join her late husband, Victor Castillo, and our Lord in Heaven on Sunday, the 31 ^st of July 2022 at the age of 79.

Born in Katemcy, Tx and a resident of Mason, Tx, Frances was born on May 4 ^th , 1943, to Bertha Aguero Ramos.  For 60 years, she was married to the love of her life, Victor, with whom she not only raised a family but spent decades creating a successful career contributing to Mason, Tx. as a business owner, leaving an indelible mark with her beloved clients that she loved dearly.

In 1983 Frances first started her tireless career efforts as a cosmetologist at Classic Kuts and Curls salon.  After working there, in 1984 she started her own business, Hair Designs by Frances, and ran her successful business for 38 years.

As a young woman Frances devoted much of her time in helping prepare children for school and to aid in the fight against poverty and received the Rural Service Award from the Office of Economic Opportunity in 1968.  For three years Frances taught a Story Hour at the North side Community Center.  The primary aim of the class was to teach the English language to preschool age children.  Frances was a member of the Human Resource Committee and formerly was a volunteer teacher for basic education classes for adults for three years.  Frances was a member of the First Baptist Church and a Sunbeam leader who also assisted with Bible School.

From 1966-68 Frances was a Mason County Teacher; Head Start Teach Aid from 1967-69; Kindergarten Teacher from 1967-69; Mason Drug County Clk. in 1969; civic : Community Action Research program in 1968; First Baptist Church Vacation Bible School in 1965; Mason Chamber of Commerce Director from 1989-91; honors : Rural Service Award, Econ. Opportunities 1968.

In 1970 Frances was one of 5,000 women who was nominated and appeared in the ' Outstanding Young Women of America ' book which is a program that recognizes her outstanding abilities and accomplishments which honored young women who gave their time and efforts for the betterment of community, country and profession.  These outstanding young women were nominated by women's organizations and college alumni associations.

Frances had several additional awards.  In 1987 Joico Labs and Parker Barber and Beauty Supply recognized her for the ' Professional Achievement in continuing her education for the Barber and Beauty Industry by completing the Alpha and Omega Seminars for the Professional of the Eighties '. In 1991 Mason Arts and Crafts Guild recognized business owners for decorating their windows and Frances won 2nd place for 'Window Decoration'.

Frances's work ethics helped her to win an award as business owner and women owner of the year in 1986.  Frances had a knack for writing.  She wrote words for two songs which were put into music by a Hollywood firm.

Frances was a pillar of strength for her family with an endless dedication to her husband and children throughout her entire life.  Frances will be remembered as a strong and loving person who dedicated her life to Christ.  She was a faithful Christian who fiercely devoted her time in making sure her children knew God.

Frances will be remembered for being an amazing friend to others, a beautiful mother and wife, for her fun loving, kindhearted spirit with boundless love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a hard-working woman with an undying commitment to her clients whom she kept near and dear to her heart.  Frances will be deeply missed.

Frances is survived by her son Eli Castillo, and his wife Gigi of Mason, Texas, her son, Adrian Castillo of Mason, Texas, her daughter Cindy Villarreal, and her husband Javier Villareal of Mason, Texas, her daughter Sonya Castillo of Mason, Texas, and daughter Luciana Castillo-Garza, and her wife Erica Garza of San Antonio, Texas; her seven grandson's, Victor Castillo, Alejandro Castillo, Luis Castillo, Miguel Castillo, Emilio Villarreal, Esteban Villarreal, Eduardo Villarreal, her one granddaughter, Angelica Castillo-Garza; her great granddaughters Elliot, Everett, and Lillian; her great grandsons Ethan Villarreal, Achilles and Jojo; her brother Jack Hernandez and his wife Corina of Eden, Texas, sisters-in-law Elena Velez, Olga Mesa, Jane Zavala, Valentina Dominguez , Vickie Nelms, close family friend Kim Williams, sister-at-heart Christine Gonzalez, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Aguero Ramos; father Anselmo Hernandez, husband Victor Castillo, brothers David Ramos, George Ramos, Antonio Ramos, Pascual Ramos, Frank Hernandez, half-sister Irene Herrera; adopted brother Anselmo Hernandez (Peewee).

Visiting hours with memorial services were held on Saturday, the 6 ^th of August between the hours of ten o'clock and eleven o'clock in the morning at First United Methodist Church in Mason with Art Nelms, husband of the late Vickie Nelms, providing pastoral services.

TBD: There will be a private burial ceremony celebrated for family and close friends at the Gooch Cemetery.  All services will conclude at the cemetery.
