Felix Velez Jr., of Brady and formerly of Mason, passed away on Friday, August 22, at the age of 54. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home with a Rosary to follow at 7. Funeral services will be held graveside at the Crosby Cemetery on Tuesday, August 26, at 10:30 a.m.
Felix was born in Levelland, Texas on October 9, 1959, the son of Felix Velez Sr. and Brigida Hernandez Velez. He was raised in Mason and was a 1978 graduate of Mason High School. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and worked in retail in Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth for many years. In the late 80's he moved to Brady where he helped take care of his mother. He was a good son and his presence and care extended and enriched his mother's life. Felix had a kind heart and a gentle soul.
Survivors include 2 brothers and a sister: John Velez of Cypress, Frank Velez of Austin, and Linda Nuncio of 29 Palms, California, uncles and aunts; Manual Hernandez of Kermit, Juan Hernandez and wife Gloria of Plainview, Connie DeAnda and husband Lupe of Menard, Antonio Velez and Paul Velez of Austin along with numerous nieces and nephews. Felix was preceded in death by his parents and the following aunts and uncles: Refugio Velez, Cecilia Ortiz, Alex Velez, Jose Velez and Ben Hernandez.
