Eulene Johnson, of Mason, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, at the age of 94. Eulene was born in Toya, Texas on April 18, 1923 to David Absalom Johnson and Mary Irene Anderson Johnson. She was raised in far West Texas and never lost her love for that part of the state. Eulene married J.W. "Pee Wee" Johnson in October of 1943 and their marriage was blessed with two children, "Dub" and Judy.
They made their home in Mason County. Eulene and Pee Wee were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Eulene was very active there until her declining health kept her from being as involved. Eulene and Pee Wee operated a store on the Llano River and Hwy 87 for a number of years. Later on Eulene worked at the Western Auto store and at Hofmann's Dry Goods. After working at Hofmann's, Eulene worked as the receptionist at Mason Funeral Home for many years. She was not only a wonderful receptionist but also was a grandmother to the Atwood's grandchildren and then to the children of Randy and Amy Beckmann after they bought the funeral home in 2000.
Eulene is survived by her son "Dub" Johnson and wife Marty, of Mason, four grandchildren: Judd Kothmann and wife Adi, Joe Kothmann and wife Lisa, Misty Johnson and Kristy Tinney and husband Todd. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren: Colton Robinson, Corbin Norris, Zach Gabert, Toryn Tinney, Parker Tinney, McCall Tinney, Briana Gomez, Adrian Sanchez, John Paul Sanchez, Kallin Kothmann, Makinley Kothmann and a great-great-grandchild Bohdi Lures. She was preceded in death by her daughter Judy Johnson Kothmann and her husband J.W. "Pee Wee" Johnson
Eulene, "Enie" was mother and grandmother to many children of all ages. She really didn't want to have a memorial service, but relented on this condition.
"I want all my rabbit shooters, marble players, goat lovers, pear feeder to the cows and kids that liked to roam around the pasture to be invited. All those kids that are in my barrel of memories. Tyler and Chris Beckmann, Madison and Mason Kruse, Jim Jordan and his dog Marty, "Pesticide" Grote and Jeff Grote, Joe Dominguez, all of the Henry Dominguez Sr. family, Billy Dale Polk, all of Tootsie's family, Danny Walker, David Chinn, Derick Chinn, Tanner Dutton, Howard Grosse, Julie and Jason Marek, all of Billie Belle's family, Teressa Gierisch, Stephanie and family (Noah, Kiley and Kason), Terry Gierisch and Glen and Cody. Thanks for those good times you gave me."
