Emmett Weyand, of Loyal Valley, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, at the age of 74.  Emmett was born on November 30, 1947 in Fredericksburg, to Henry Norman Weyand and Ida M. Bratton Weyand. He moved around a lot in his younger years, including several years in Germany, due to his father being in the Army.  After his father left the Army, the family moved to Corpus Christi.  He graduated from high school in Corpus Christi and then attended Southwest Texas State College (now Texas State University) where he received a degree in Agriculture and a minor in Business.

After college, Emmett lived in the Austin area where he worked as a construction manager.  In 2001 he moved to Brady where he worked on property owned by the King Ranch.  Emmett also worked on the family ranch and in 2012 he moved to Loyal Valley.

Emmett was a member of St. John Lutheran Church at Castell.  He loved the ranch life and enjoyed fishing as well as being an accomplished canoe racer.

Emmett is survived by his son Levi Weyand and wife Drew, of Temple, a grandson Finley Weyand, a sister Dorothy Seagraves and husband John Michael of Kyle, two nephews Jason and Justin Seagraves and dear friends Jim and Vicki Banner of Castell.

Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 to 1:30 on Sunday, November 6, at St. John Lutheran Church at Castell.  The funeral service will be at 1:30 at the church.  Interment will follow at the Bethel Cemetery at Camp Air.
