Emma Gene Jackson, of Mason, passed away on Sunday, December 1, at the age of 84. Emma Gene is survived by her husband Rev. Dennie Jackson, of Mason, four children Joyce Lucille Masters and husband Charlie of Spicewood, Margie Lynn Wilson and husband David of Mason, Timothy Ray Dockal and wife Helen of Mason and Rebekah Jean Maaz and husband Lee of Austin, 12 grandchildren: Michele Willis, Allen Marshall, Kelley Craft, Tina Owens, Robin Dockal, Tana Autrey, Sarah Maaz, Rachel Maaz, Michael Masters, Jamey Masters, Lindsey Masters and Melanie Burzynski and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson Robert Anderson.

Emma Gene was born in the Streeter Community of Mason County on October 29, 1929, the only child of Eugene Koerner and Nancy Cavness Koerner. She attended school at Streeter and Mason and was a graduate of Mason High School. Emma Gene loved to write and had a weekly column in the Mason County News, "Mason County Personalities". She also wrote a book about her husband's years in the ministry. Emma Gene taught Sunday School for 60 years and for 27 years organized the "Community Grandparents Thank You Luncheon" through Mason Gospel Church. On July 14, 1974 she married Rev. Dennie Jackson after previously being married to Eddie Ray Dockal.

God and family were most important to Emma Gene and she was the backbone of her family and the glue that held it together. She was a woman of strong faith and a kind heart. Through the years she was mama to a lot of kids and she touched a lot of lives."She was an awesome lady"!

Funeral services for Emma Gene Jackson will be held on Tuesday, December 3, at 3:00 p.m. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel. Private interment will follow in the Cavness Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:30 at Mason Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Allen Marshall, Lee Maaz, Shane Willis, Mark Craft, Damian Del Toro and Darron Del Toro. Honorary pallbearers are Dorman Cavness, Lupe De Anda, Pete Airheart, Gordon Airheart, Butch Airheart and John Copeland.
