May 16, 1945 — Apr 7, 2023
Elliott George Courtright Sr., age 77, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023, at his home in Mason, Texas surrounded by his family. Elliott is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Doris Courtright, sons Elliott Courtright Jr. (daughter-in-law Meghan Harris Courtright, grandson Logan Courtright, and granddaughter Juliette Courtright) and David Courtright, as well as sisters-in-law Melanie Methe DeGruy and Mary Davis Methe, numerous nieces and nephews, and longtime friends John and Jeanne Winters.
Elliott was born in New Orleans on May 16, 1945, to George Courtright and Theresa Brizzolara. He was a graduate of Holy Cross High School (class of 1963), Southeastern Louisiana University (class of 1967), and Loyola Law school (class of 1970). Elliott was a record-holding collegiate track star, which earned him his nickname "Flash". While in law school, Elliott met and fell in love with Doris Methe; they were married soon after his graduation. Elliott began working as a trial attorney for ExxonMobil in 1976 where he remained for the rest of his career, nearly 26 years. Upon his retirement in 2002, he and Doris moved to Mason, Texas, where they lived for the past 21 years and became very involved in the local community and forged many close friendships. In Mason, Elliott was an active member of the First United Methodist church of Mason, member of the Mason Lion's Club, and served on the board of Steady Steps Ministries. Elliott was an avid birder and was a life-long lover of sports, especially baseball and college football.
