Dorris Marie Cole, 92, of Fredericksburg and Mason, Tx, formerly of Sebastian, Tx, was born on October 28, 1923, in Patroon, Texas, to Quincy Tucker Chandler and Almira Eddins Chandler. Dorris passed away on February 20 in Fredericksburg.

Dorris was the youngest of four children. Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers and sister, Earl Chandler, Thomas Chandler and Lucille Hanks.

Dorris married "the love of her life", Jesse Howard Cole, on December 20, 1941. Dorris and Howard both retired from Lyford school district after many years of dedicated service. They lived in Sebastian, Texas for many years before moving to Mason in 1994. Howard passed away on June 24, 2000.

Dorris is survived by her three children. Dennis and Sue Cole of Harlingen, Tx, Carol and Mike Hammond of Port Aransas, Tx and Brenda and Bob Etter of Mason, Tx. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Tammy and Patrick Jackson of Austin, Shannon and Christy Cole of Houston, Tracey and Gary Spence of Indiana, Shay and Rodney Nelson of Weslaco and Tom West and Sonia of Rio Hondo, 7 great-grandchildren: Michael, Myranda, Hannah, Gunnar, Luke, Camden and Kalina. She was awaiting the arrival of her 8th great-grandchild, Cole West.

Dorris was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Mason Funeral Home on Monday, February 22. The funeral service will be at the First Baptist Church in Mason on Tuesday, February 23, at 1:00 p.m. Graveside service will follow at the Gooch Cemetery in Mason. Serving as pallbearers are Bob Etter, Mike Hammond, Tom West, Shannon Cole, Neal Little and Clyde Martin.
