Dorris Nell Billings Clark of Mason, Texas, known to her grandchildren as Grams, passed away on April 11, 2021, just a couple of months shy of turning 96 years of age.  She spent the last 2 ½ years living in Fredericksburg at Heritage Place.  She made friends with many of the nursing staff and was loved and well taken care of by them all.

She was born June 2, 1925 in Del Rio, Texas to Lee and Lena Dodson Billings.  She was the eldest of 3 brothers & 2 sisters, who have all preceded her in death.

Dorris married Raymond Clark in Marfa, TX on July 14, 1945.

She went to college at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, and graduated with a degree in education then later got her Bachelor's of Arts and Master's Education degree and became an Educational Diagnostician.  She taught for 23 years before retiring in 1985.

She belonged to several organizations: Alpha Chi, TSTA, TRS and Heart of the Hills Hospice, were she volunteered many hours in Uvalde, while living at Cline, TX.

She moved to Mason in 1994 to be near her son Matt.  Making many friends, she soon started playing canasta with 2 group of ladies that she dearly loved.  She also volunteered at the Sr. center for a short time, and she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mason, Texas & taught Sunday school for many years.

She loved to sew and was quite the seamstress.  Made many of her own clothes and most importantly, she made some wedding dresses for her family.  Her favorite past time was watching birds, painting & reading.  She painted several pieces & gave them to her children and grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Dorris is survived by her children: Donniece Clark Slover, Molly Clark Bell and Ben Matthew Clark and wife Shari.  Grandchildren Maxie Slover, Hope Slover Davis and husband Brazos, Amy Hartman and husband Randy, Rusty Clark, Amy Clark, Andy Wells and wife Rochelle, Glory Wells Gomez and husband Jaymi, Candice Clark Beddo and husband Jason.  21 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Clark Sr, her son Raymond Clark Jr. and granddaughter Sunday Slover Campbell.

Pallbearers are Andy Wells, Rusty Clark, Hondo Davis, Concho Davis, Clyde Martin & Neal Little.  Honorary Pallbearers are David Sansom, Brazos Davis, Randy Hartman, Jaymi Gomez, Kendal Hartman, Kyle Hartman, Kory Hartman and Maxie Slover Jr.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 18, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at the Mason First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Hext Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice of Fredericksburg, TX, Hext Cemetery or to a charity of your choice.

The family encourages face coverings to be worn and practicing of social distancing.
