Dorothy L Tatsch

Dorothy Lou (Johnson) Tatsch was born in Mason, Texas on March 27, 1939, to Ralph and Ruby (Guentert) Johnson.  "Granny T" as she was affectionately known as, passed away at her home in Mason at the age of 87.

Dorothy is survived by 4 Sons: Monte Tatsch ( Michelle), Bobby Tatsch (Linda), Michael Tatsch, Brian Tatsch (Cyndi) grandchildren:  Jason Tatsch ( Megan), Randy Tatsch (Erica), Glenn Tatsch (Taylor), Stephanie Simonton (Terry), Kaycee Tatsch (Stephen Kruso), Dustin Tatsch (Tori), Jared Tatsch, Sarah Frasier, Cody Tatsch (Kynzi), Logan Tatsch, Morgan Tatsch and Kyle Tatsch, great grandchildren: Jaylee, Brody, Diesel, Madison, Colton, Noah, Kylie, Caycen, Boone, Mikaela, Charlotte, Slaton, Roanin, Sarah, Avery, Carter, Kyle Jr. and one on the way.  Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Monte Gene Tatsch and a son Ricky Tatsch.

Dorothy was a passionate woman. If she loved you, she loved you passionately and if she didn't care for you, it was with passion as well. The sparkle in her life was definitely her five boys. In her eyes, they could do no wrong and she would defend them to the end. Once, she even sat out a time in jail to protest a seatbelt ticket that Brian (her baby) was issued! She would have absolutely done the same for any of the boys and they knew it!  Many hours were spent debating which one of them was her favorite and although she was slow to warm up to the daughters-in-law, everyone knew they were actually her favorites. She knew it would take a mighty woman to tackle her strong-willed boys.

If it was possible for the sparkle to get any brighter, it was through her grand and great grandchildren. She was proud of their successes and enjoyed watching them grow (especially since so many of them lived so close to her).

It goes without saying that she was equally as passionate about Gene or "Pa" as we knew him. They spent 46 adventure filled years together and with five boys, there were many, many adventures! The adventures of Dorothy and Gene were mostly centered here in Mason, although in the early years, they spent some meandering around North Texas. After a couple years though, Mason called them back home as they worked various ranches and raised their rambunctious boys.

Other than her family, working was another great passion of hers. She worked for Charlie Reichneau for just shy of fifty years! There were many holidays or celebrations that we had to wait for her or we only had her for a short time, because she had to hurry back to work. We all agree that it was worth the wait just to eat one piece of her fried deer meat and we happily forgave her!

Granny T will be deeply missed but she will not be forgotten. Her hard work, dedication, and passion will carry on in the lives of her boys and their families. Her smile will dance in the eyes of her grand and great grandchildren. Her spirit will carry us all.
