Doris Jane Knox, of Georgetown, passed away on Thursday, October 06, 2011 at the age of 76. Doris was born on February 8, 1935 at the Capps Ranch in northern Mason County to Alton Bill Capps and Frances Hallmark Capps. She was a 1953 graduate of Mason High School and attended college in San Angelo. She fell in love and married Thomas Allen Knox on April 6, 1955 at the Capps Ranch. Doris and Thomas lived in several different towns where Thomas was Band Director. For many years they lived in Austin, and for the last ten years have lived in Georgetown.

Doris served as chaperone on many band trips and was a devoted and loving wife, mother and friend. Through the years she worked in several nursing homes and was working towards her LVN certificate. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and needlework.

She is survived by her husband Thomas Knox of Georgetown and three children, Frances Knox of Georgetown, Barbara Reedy and husband David of Leander, and Thomas W. Knox and wife Natalie of Austin along with numerous cousins including Elaine Atwood, Sammie Capps, Laverne Lee and Ann Roberts.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Gooch Cemetery in Mason. Visitation with the family was held Saturday morning from 10 a.m. till noon at Mason Funeral Home.
