Donald Dannheim

Donald Edward Dannheim, age 89, of Mason, Texas passed away on Thursday November 9, 2023, just shy of his 90th birthday. Donald was born November 18,1933 to Alvin Sr. and Eddie Grace Dannheim in Mason, Texas.

After graduating Mason High School, he volunteered in the army serving in Germany until November 1956.  After returning, he met Carol Whitehead, and they married on June 28, 1958. Donald was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed volunteering for the fire department.

Donald is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carol Dannheim and daughters Donna (John) O'Donnell, Debra Newman and Dana Bunker; grandchildren, Randa (Tyler) New, Jeffrey Tyler Carpenter, Kristen (Colton) Robinson, Kolby Bunker and Riley Bunker, and great grandchildren Brooklynn, Bennett, Oaklyn and Carsyn; sister-in-law Doris Durst Dannheim; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, sister Marian (Calvin) Leifeste, brother Alvin Jr., nephew Dwight Leifeste, and son-in-law Randy Newman.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Mason volunteer fire department, or a charity of your choice.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday, November 12, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home.  A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
