Darlene Brandenberger, of Mason, passed away on Monday, January 23, at the age of 75. Darlene is survived by her children Tim Chew and wife Darinda of Mason, Tracy Montoya of Mason, a sister Marlene Duzan of Bluffton and a brother Teddy Ray Doyal and wife Linda of Mason along with 5 grandchildren: Ryan Mehal and wife Crystal of San Antonio, Tyler Chew and wife Bekah of Brady, Carley Sloss and husband Hunter of San Angelo, Brooke Falgout of Mason and Kyle Montoya of Mason.
Darlene was born in Fredericksburg on August 7, 1941 to Roy Milton "Ted" Doyal and Mary Lois Lumpkins Doyal. She was raised in Mason and was a 1959 graduate of Mason High School. After high school Darlene attended business school in Austin and worked for Elizabeth Jewelers. She married Tommy Chew in 1961 and they lived in Austin, Houston and Waco.
After returning to Mason, Darlene worked as a secretary for Central Texas Electric Cooperative and also worked part-time at Lowes grocery.
She had a great sense of humor and loved to play tricks on her grandchildren at Halloween. Darlene also loved going to sporting events in which her grandchildren were participating.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 27, at 11:00 a.m. in the Mason Funeral Home chapel with Mark Kirby leading the service. Interment will follow in the Gooch Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Bo Brown, Terry Keese, Greg Gardner, Brad Holt, Buddy Bolley and Daniel Gainer
