Daniel Cruz Palacio Sr. "Boome" was born May 3, 1937 to Paulino Sr. and Anestacia Palacio in Menard, Texas. The Palacio family took part in various farming work, harvesting cotton and peanuts. Daniel began he's contributions at a young age helping his family as the oldest son of 12 siblings. As Daniel got older, he began learning the trade of sheep shearing and became very well known for his experience and work ethics.

Daniel married Luisa Velasquez of Fort Stockton, Texas, September 19, 1957. They became life-long residents of Mason, raising a family of 4 sons and were married for 54 years. Daniel would continue his work as a long-time sheep shearer and then ranch hand to Mr. Walton Grote. He also worked at the local peanut mill for several years before it would close.

When Daniel wasn't working, he took an avid interest in mechanics learning the complicated work of a mechanic. Helping many family members and friends service their vehicles.

Daniel is survived by his sons, Adan Palacio and wife Rosario of Brady, Texas, Abel Palacio and wife Norma of Lampasas, Texas, Daniel Jr. Palacio and wife Rebecca of Mason, Texas and Arturo Palacio and wife Marisela of San Angelo, Texas. 14 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. 2 sisters, Irene Gloria and husband Andrew of Brownwood, Texas, Louisa Macareno of Mason, Texas. 3 brothers, David Palacio of Mason, Texas, Moses Palacio Sr. of San Angelo, Texas and Pete Palacio and wife Diane of San Angelo, Texas.

Daniel's pride and joy were his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was known as their Popo and loved them very much.

He is proceeded in death by his wife Luisa Velasquez Palacio, 3 sons, Estevan Palacio, Oscar Palacio and baby boy Palacio. 2 sisters, Mary Trevino and Frances Soto. 4 brothers, Enrique Palacio, Alfredo Palacio, Paulino Palacio Jr., and Louis Palacio. His parents Paulino Palacio Sr. and Anestacia Palacio.

Serving as Pallbearers: Grandsons, Ray Palacio, Joshua Palacio, Nicholas Palacio, Joseph Palacio, Johnathan Palacio and Justin Palacio.  Honorary Pallbearer: Sergeant Steven Palacio of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment in Grafenwoehr, Germany.

Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, February 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:00.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 7, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mason.  Interment will follow in the Crosby Cemetery.
