Cora Franklin of Mason Texas passed away on Monday December 30, 2013 in the Windcrest Nursing and Rehab Center in Fredericksburg at the age of 83.

Cora is survived by her 3 children George Franklin and his girlfriend Darlene Edmondson of Ft. Worth, Laurie Fulce and husband Ron of Mason, Kathy Scoggins of Nevada TX, 6 grandchildren and their families, Crystal Hradecky her husband Buddy and their son, Derrick Bird and wife Erin and their 6 children, Kevin Scoggins and wife Cindy and their 4 children, Amy Lorrance and husband Clay, Stephanie Tusing and husband Jason and their son, and Heather Scoggins, brother in-law Lucian Franklin and his wife Frances of Rockville Maryland.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ava Mae Looney nee McGlasson, sister, Pauli Brown, son-in-law Tim Scoggins.

Cora was born in Del Rio Texas on December 11, 1930 to Walter and Ava Mae Looney. She was raised in the Dallas area and graduated from Crocier Tech High School. She met Billy McClure Franklin at a church picnic and they were wed on October 29, 1948 and had 62 years together until his passing in 2010. Cora loved to bowl and was involved with leagues while they lived in Dallas. She was an excellent cook. She and Billy loved rock hunting and that's what brought them to Mason over 20 years ago. Cora was a life long Christian serving as a missionary in Mexico and at her local church.

Funeral services for Cora Franklin will be on Friday January 3, 2014 at 10:00a.m. in the Mason Church of Christ with Mark Kirby officiating. Interment will follow in the Gooch Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday January 2, 2014 from 4:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. in the Mason Funeral Home.
