Claude Simon, of Mason, passed away at his home on Sunday, April 30, at the age of 75. Mr. Simon is survived by his wife Doris Simon of Mason, four sons, DeWayne Simon and wife Sheri of Mason, Robby Simon and wife Kimberly of Mason, Kenny Simon of Lake Buchanan and Corey Simon and wife Candice of Liberty Hill, a brother L.D. Simon and wife Betty of Mason, nine grandchildren: Wesley Simon and wife Kaley, Casey Simon and wife Tiffany, Cody Simon, Tina Jordan and husband Brendan, Bradley Simon and wife Chelsea, Zane Simon, Ashlyn Simon, Ryan Wilson and Allisa Wilson, seven great-grandchildren with one on the way and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister Bonnie Evans.
Claude was born in Menard County on August 25, 1941 to Luther Dee Simon and Zeda Ray Height Simon. He graduated from Mason High school in 1959. In 1960 he married Doris Doyal in Brady. They lived in several different towns where Claude worked as an electrician. In 1978 they moved back home to Mason where Claude worked as a carpenter until he retired. Claude also loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing and he enjoyed spending time with his family. He liked tinkering with things and could fix just about anything. Claude also enjoyed entertaining friends and family with stories; some true and some that he created!
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, May 6, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mason with Rev. Ryan Buck leading the service. Visitation with the family will follow the service.
