Clarence William "Billy" Kothmann was born June 24, 1940 in Pearsall, Texas to Ryland and Evelyn Kothmann. The family moved when he was 3 years old to the family ranch in Mason. He graduated from Mason High School in 1958. In October 1960 he married his high school sweetheart, Marsha Bodenhamer. In 1963 Billy decided to complete his education at St. Mary's University with a BS in Biology.
Billy accepted Christ as a young man and was confirmed in the Hilda Methodist Church. Billy was an active member of River of Life Church.
They raised three sons – James William, Kevin Lee, and Korey Dean. Billy worked for Luby's Cafeteria for twenty years. In 1988 he retired to ranch full time. He was a county commissioner in Mason County for 8 years. Billy was a passionate outdoorsman. He loved his family, friends, and horses.
He was the 4 th child of six. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, R.B. Kothmann, and sister, Mary Lee Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Marsha, his three sons, James William & girlfriend, Delores Hohn, Kevin & wife, Farrah, Korey & wife, Kristen, his sisters Barbara Pluenneke, Nonie Stringer, and Sue Carol McKnight, and his grandchildren, Mason & wife, Brittany, Connor, Kambree, Kanyon, Campbell, and Kathryn Kothmann. Preceded in death by his parents, brother, R.B. Kothmann, Jr. and sister Mary Lee Thomas.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00. at Mason Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life to be held at River of Life Gym at 2:00 p.m.. Interment will follow at the Hilda Methodist Cemetery.
Face coverings are required and social distancing is encouraged.
