Chester Lea Spaulding, Jr., of Mason, Texas passed away on December 12, 2023.

Chester was born to Chester and Shirley Spaulding on July 20, 1945, in Brady, Texas.  He was known as "Paw" to his grandchildren, who described him as the toughest man they knew.  He was a proud, decorated Navy veteran.  He served on the USS Ranger Aircraft Carrier, and he retired from Starlite Hospital and the State Hospital.  He loved working on his ranch, and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, even in the most painful seasons.

Chester was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janette Spaulding, and his beloved granddaughter, Evelyn Spaulding, as well as his parents and brother, Gordon Spaulding, and sister, Shana K James.

Chester is survived by his children, Mark Spaulding, Chester Spaulding and wife Liedy, Shana Evans and husband Randy, and Gordon Spaulding.  His loving grandchildren are Tabatha, Zach and wife Karleigh, and children Grace and Wylder, Carter, Alexa and husband Matthew, and children Cote, Remi, Willa, and Merci, Chase and wife Logan, and daughter Josie, Madison and husband Santiago, Jacob, and Adriele.

Chester's family will host a memorial service on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.  The service will be at Mason Funeral Home.
