On Wednesday, March 23, 2016 Charlotte Laverne Haygood Wartenbach went to be with our most gracious Heavenly Father. She was born in San Angelo on November 15, 1950 to Macy Haygood Jr. and Dorothy "Dottie" Henry Haygood. She spent her childhood in Menard. She was quite a beauty. Charlotte led the Menard High School band as a drum major, twirler and was chosen as Band Sweetheart.

Charlotte married John Wartenbach in Menard in 1969 and they raised two fine sons. On February 15, 2015 they celebrated 47 wonderful devoted years of marriage. They have been a resident of Mason since their marriage.
Charlotte was a member of River of Life Church and the Mason Art Guild. She worked as a CNA at the Mason nursing home for many years until health issues forced her to retire 8 years ago. She also owned an antique store and did sewing for the public. Charlotte loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress. She made many prom dresses, cheer leader outfits and custom shirts along with many other items. Charlotte was a phenomenal cook and published a cookbook which included her delicious recipes and her elephant artwork. Everyone that knew Charlotte knows of her passion for adding to her elephant collection.
Charlotte is survived by her husband John Wartenbach of Mason, two sons John D. Wartenbach of Mason and James Wartenbach and wife Rheannon of Mason, a brother David Haygood and wife Martha of San Angelo, two sisters Pamela Hodges of Houston and Macel Patterson and husband Paul of Fredericksburg and five grandchildren: Ryan Wartenbach, Brandon Wartenbach, Jessica Wartenbach, Derek Wartenbach, Jase Wartenbach and one on the way. She is also survived by her nephews Lucas Hodges, Jason Hodges, Billy Haygood and one niece Shala Fischer. Charlotte was an exceptional wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.
We rejoice that she is now with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 28, at 2:00 p.m. at River of Life Church with Pastor Dave Benefield leading the service. Interment follows in the Gooch Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Ryan Wartenbach, Brandon Wartenbach, Lex Kothmann, Lucas Hodges, Jason Hodges and Ray Avalos.
