Carolina Archuleta Jordan was born on January 6, 1936, in Hill, New Mexico, to Anastacio Archuleta Sr. and Guadalupe Ronquillo Archuleta. She passed away on Monday, November 4, at the age of 88.

She attended elementary schools in Dona Ana and East Picacho, New Mexico, and graduated from Las Cruces Union High School in 1954. After graduation, she began working for the U.S. Government at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. In 1964, Carolina developed an interest in stock car racing and decided to participate in a women's race, where she finished in 3rd place and won a trophy for her efforts. However, she soon realized that stock car racing was not for her. In 1973, she met the love of her life, Ray Jordan, and they married in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on January 18, 1975. The couple, along with Carolina's daughter whom Ray adopted, moved to El Paso. In 1976, while working on the Roland Project at White Sands Missile Range, Carolina was sent to Germany for a few months on temporary duty. After completing her assignment, Ray, their daughter Yvonne, and Carolina's mother joined her in Germany, where they toured various countries. Later in 1976, Carolina was assigned to Cape Canaveral for the Roland Project, where she had the significant responsibility of pressing the launch button. In 1979, Ray was transferred to Fort Greely, Alaska, and the family lived in Delta Junction for five years. During their time in Alaska, Carolina was actively involved in her church where she helped build a log church. She also volunteered at the Fort Greely Thrift Shop. In 1984, the family returned to El Paso, where Carolina became a member of Trinity First United Methodist Church. She was very active in church activities, particularly in the Women's Circle, and worked as a teacher's aide at the church's day school. She later worked for the Department of Labor for several years until her husband's retirement in 1995, after which they moved to Mason, Texas, where she's lived since. Carolina was a member of the First United Methodist Church and participated in the Sunday morning breakfast class, the RSVP Program, the Bluebonnet Study Club, and the Meals on Wheels program. She also served as the past director of the Odeon Preservation Association.

Carolina was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, one brother, her husband Ray, and two great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Yvonne and her husband Abel Alba of Mason, Texas; grandchildren Willy and his wife Mayra Alba of Mason, Texas; and Joseph and his wife Veronica Alba of Idaho. She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren: Achilles, Joseph, Kaymie, Kristian, Elizaveta, Jameson, and Adeline, as well as her sister Dodie Hale and brothers Reynaldo Archuleta, Mike Archuleta, Danny Archuleta and his wife Nancy from Huntsville, Alabama, Alvino Archuleta, and Raymond Archuleta.

A memorial service celebrating Carolina's life will be held at a later date.
